Before anyone else spots it, I see an error in the section about the auction – it wasn’t a Maserati Sebring, it was a 1963 3500GTI Vignale Spyder – I’m not sure how that got past my edit, except that there was also a Sebring (next to the Triumph 2500) on offer – could you correct it please, Claus? Thank you!

Jeg besøgte første gang Silverstone Classic i 1997 eller 1998 – kan ikke lige huske året. Men dels kørte jeg derover i min gamle Triumph Spitfire (via Holland, så den lange vej) og dels havde jeg aldrig før set så mange Ferrari 250 GTO’er på een gang. Hvis jeg da overhovedet havde set een.
Begge dele gjorde det til en af mine største biloplevelser, og jeg glemmer det aldrig: Det kan ikke anbefales nok at kombinere sin bilinteresse for klassikere med sit transportbehov – heller ikke selvom turen er lang. Det bliver sådan set bare et endnu større og bedre eventyr.

[…] VisI think the answer to your question, Claus, is a Porsche 944 S2, with 3-litre engine giving you plenty of performance, yet is still practical for long trips. And good ones are still available for reasonable money.

Just as you […] Vis@Lars – I know what you mean, but I think it’s true for almost every “prestigious” marque, that there are some who own them only for the “prestige” they think such ownership gives them – it’s all about status, visibility for them; Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce etc etc all attract some owners like this; it’s the way of things, I suppose.

Men glem nu ikke, at der er en rigtig god grund til at Porsche betager så mange og altid har gjort det. -
Jeg drømmer skam også mere om Porsche end Mercedes. Det jeg nok har det lidt svært med det er alle dem der køber 911ere uden helt at have den indre flamme. Hørte engang i Bilklubben potcasten at de sad og gjorde sig lystige om den kø af advokater og andet godtfolk i 911ere på vej ind til København fra nordsjælland om morgenen. Det komiske er egentligt at alle tre bagmænd også selv kører 911 og bruger det meste af tiden på at snakke om dem.
Jo jeg ved godt det er en fantastisk bil men det er lige som fluer, en kan gå an men en hel sværm…… jeg får nok desværre aldrig råd til en selv. -
