I would have liked to see a car on Danish plates in the Revival Car Show-parking, and even more so if it was mine, @tony-wawryk! I was there years ago in my 1956 Volvo 445 panel van and that trip remains one of my best road trip events ever. After the Revival I drove it down to Spa Six Hours in Belgium the following weekend – just as one could have done this year, in fact.

However I was commentating a Danish historic weekend on our own shores, so I’ll make do with the Six Hours this year. Your report does make me consider a rerun of my trip back then, as the Revival besically never disappoints: WHAT an event!

It’s like Goodwood encourage competitors (and thereby indirectly visitors, maybe?) to bring cars that are NOT your usual suspects – and all the better for it. Of course the Maserati Tipo 151 is absolutely faboulous, but I really love the Plymouth Barracuda as a race car too. And a Lamborghini Silhouette in Rame Colorado copper metallic in the parking lot – on gold Bravo wheels too?!? Just wow!

Now I must try to recap via the Goodwood Youtube channel which is not too shabby either :-)

@ce – Claus, you’re right, there are always a few unusual cars – at least in the UK – brought to Goodwood and not necessarily exotic ones – in the car park for example, the Vauxhall Victor 101 Estate, VW 412 and French-registered Peugeot 403 Estate, all in shades of blue, and the green Autobianchi Primula 65C caught my eye – I guess these would all fall in the “unexceptional” category, but their very rarity makes them exceptional. The Revival car park is one of the wonders of the classic car season, for me.

I don’t think I have ever seen a Fiat 128 coupé as a track race car and of course I adore the Triumph Italia with all of my personal Triumph background. The pastel yellow Lotus Elite is really to my liking as well – but it was the duo of two similar Vauxhall Sporthatches that really made it for me: Sooooo cooooool Shooting Brakes per factory – what is not to like?!? I want one!

And oh, sign me up for a BMW 323i as well when it is from the E21-series!

@ce The Triumph Italia is probably the Triumph I would most love to own and if I had one, I’m sure I couldn’t bring myself to race it!

@tony-wawryk, I absolutely agree: I would happily drive it TO Goodwood Revival as a spectator though – enjoy that event as well…

ANY AC-car that leaves DK or doesn’t arrive to DK, to me, are the one that got away.
I’m thinking very hard about renovating/replacing my very old shoulder-tato with just the AC-logo or if someone can present a drawing with a Cobra 427 inside the logo as a background or similar.

Get the early 260 instead, @kai-bach-andersen: Much cooler and where the Cobra legend started :-)

@keld – please don’t misunderstand me, I still enjoyed the show enormously, there just wasn’t that showstopper car that the event so regularly delivers, but it was still great – perhaps we get spoiled by all the fabulous cars we see, as you say. As for the underdog – the lovely Simca 8 Sport Cabriolet and the story behind it’s restoration filled that spot very well!

Oooh, that Aston Martin DBSC by Touring! What a lovely thing – and as one I have never seen in real life would probably top my list.

And regarding the question whether Aston Martin were right in their choice of going with the DBS instead? Yes, they were right: The DBS was the more modern design and I guess you could say better resolved too. But now, sixty years later and with the benefit of heavily rosetinted glasses, I do in fact prefer the DBSC…

The ATS 2500? I too have seen them a few times and always appreciate those rare occasions. A brilliant, brilliant car – and history. Well, I guess you could say that even the failure of the project was brilliant!

@ce – re the DBSC, I have to agree that the decision to go with the DBS was the right one, for the reasons you state. The DBSC is a lovely thing, though…

This is also what I dream about for the perfect English village! Love the Cotswolds area for lots of them actually coming rather close. And for the country roads.

Besides that I really like car events that take please in the natural environment of cars. It is, after all, what they were designed for and in my mind it adds to the experience seeing them out there in the wild – or sort of.

@ce – yes, one of the best things about this event is seeing (and hearing) the cars being driven, even if it is only sedately for a few minutes . A sunny day and lovely environment also helps, of course!

Cool thing, that Walker Elan GT – well spotted! Also well judged on the BMW E24: You SHOULD have changed the wheels – and everybody would have saluted you :-).

At first I didn’t get your comment about the Alpine that were NOT A110’s, but then I spotted the number of those. Ahh, got it! Love the modern A110, actually, but still prefer the older ones – miss my old A310 V6 from time to time and am currently very drawn to the fact that the GTA and GT and Turbo offer incredible value for money.

But then again: Isn’t that red one a Rover Tomcat? Right at the top of the “Back for the Buck”-tree!

Lotus Elite still the most beautiful of them all. Would look nice next to Emma my Elan.

@ce – yes, it is a Rover Tomcat, though it wasn’t marketed under that name here in the UK, that was just an internal designation. However, it did lead to a short-lived race series called the Dunlop Rover Tomcat Race Series (had to look that up!). It certainly provided a lot of performance for the money in Turbo form, a sound alternative to the Calibra and Corrado, with the advantage of having a T-bar glass panel roof arrangement.

I agree with you regarding the modern A110 – there must have been c.25+ in total there.

And just as I thought I might not ever need a Porsche…dooh!

But agree with @nold: MUST be a great colour.
