When the 190 first came out, I wasn’t very impressed – I thought it looked too plain to carry the three-pointed star. However, in recent years, it has grown on me, and I’d be quite happy to own a 190E, with the 2.0-litre engine as a minimum, and with the 2.5, maybe even above an E30 325i…

I was never a fan of the XJ-S, although the convertible was OK, I guess, but the Lister didn’t improve an already ungainly car and this restomod…if it ends up looking like the visualisation, well, you got the title right – a Frankenstein of a car, too much of everything except style, of which it has none.

Big fan of the 504, especially the Cabrio and Coupé, both very rare here in the UK. The Coupé is especially cool, almost hard to believe it’s based on the saloon.

Morten, that’s correct – you only need Fellowship, which is what I have. There is aa long waiting list for full membership. Glad you enjoyed the Revival – it’s an epic event!

Opel used to make such cool cars, and the Monza is one of them, especially in GSE form – though like @stefan, I prefer the Commodore GS/E B even more. A Bitter CD would also be a fine choice, and certainly a rarer classic than either Monza or Commodore. It would also fool a lot of people into thinking it’s a Ferrari 400.

@skaanning thank you – and I agree that the colour combination matters a lot – the interior of mine is a blue-grey fabric that contrasts well with the red exterior. The CE also looks super in deep blue, pale blue metallic, silver and several other colours but not, for example, in yellow, despite that being one of my favourite colours, or green.…[Læs mere]

I agree with @Skaanning regarding automatic transmission for a R129 – it is a car for cruising in, as is it’s predecessor, the R107 (which I much prefer). My own Mercedes coupe – a C123 – is the first automatic I have owned, and to be honest, it feels right that it is.

Yellow is one of my two favourite colours on classic cars – you may recall I wrote a piece about it on the international edition some years ago. With regard to the attendance, figures released by the organisers showed that this year’s show had an almost identical number of visitors over the weekend as last year’s – 26,912 compared with 26,872, no mean feat when the average ticket price was £30/EUR 35.
