My father ran one for a while in the early 1970s – it was an excellent family car, very spacious and comfortable, if slightly odd looking. I can’t find a regular 1800 for sale in the UK to compare, but DKK 65,000 (reduced from DKK 75,000, I see from…[Læs mere]

Sidste uge fik Lotus kreeret […] VisI’ve just had a look at the current Lotus range on their website, and I have a feeling that a big part of the problem is the move upmarket and pricing – Emira’s are available for between £83,000 and £90,000, the SYV Eletre £95k and up, Emeya’s at £140,000 and up, before you get to the ridiculous 2,000bhp Evija. I’m not a huge Lotus fan, though I love the way many of them look, especially the original Elite and the Europa, and although I’ve never driven one I understand that they are generally great to drive. Particularly interesting is the degree of compromise required to bring the car to production and then to market, without losing the design’s integrity and the 456’s longevity bears testament to the strength of the design.

So true, @jens-g: That part of the UK amazes me as well and I’ll not have to wait to long to attend an event over there myself as in July I’ll take part in the Cartier concours at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. I’ll meet up with Iain Tyrrell and hopefully make a video of the event there.
Incidentally same Iain made a video at the London Concours Tony covers in his report – maybe worth a view here on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVhVHNobkHw

After rolling through the impressive photos, both regarding volume, content and quality, I had to start over to see if the Jaguars didn’t participate in the meeting at all?
Luckily I found an XJ220 on last frame… -

A classic road trip to the Spa Classic
Our British enthusiast takes a 53 […]-
Thanks for this report about an event I have yet to visit – but seems I will have to: I love Spa-Francorchamps and cam warmly recommend the Spa Six Hours later in the calendar.
Likewise I can’t recommend Le Mans Classic enough. To help your decision let me just point out that it solves your only criticism of the Summer Classic as almost all cars at Le Mans Classic are houses in tents that are basically very open most of the time. Just remember to buy paddock access – an absolute must here, as the participating cars are of an even higher standard.
Of your cars above the Bizzarrini really ticks all my boxes – but well, so does the 917, the Stratos and any Daytona race car is always a sight and sound to admire.
I would like to thank you for including some much more achievable cars as well: I must get myself an Opel Monza soon – or an Audi Coupé. Esprit? Naah, maybe better a TVR – any, in fact. And the Mercury Cougar I always liked too.
And don’t get me started on 911’s! Glad to hear your lovely ‘72 performed faultlessly – if you sell it now you at least end your adventures on a high.
OR: Will I see it and you at Le Mans Classic?
