@ce – since you seem not to want to go in the direction of a 944 S2 (though you really should), what about a 4th generation Celica 2.0GT – nice clean lines, decent performance, fuel injection (I believe)? Or is that one of the Japanese sports coupes you have already considered?

What a fascinating insight into the design of a car, especially one as fine to look at as the 456 (one of the last Ferrari’s I like). Particularly interesting is the degree of compromise required to bring the car to production and then to market, without losing the design’s integrity and the 456’s longevity bears testament to the strength of the design.

@leo-Jensen I have to admit I hadn’t noticed that myself, but apart from the XJ220, the only other Jaguar taking part in the concours itself was a 1996 XJS convertible which you can see behind the green Maserati Ghibli Cup. We are spoilt here in the UK for classic events of all kinds, from smaller local shows to major concours. Later this summer we will have two new concours events – one at the prestigious RAC Club in Epsom, the other to be the Monarch Classic to be held at Bath Racecourse – I hope to report on them both.

Classic Race Viborg looks like it was great fun, and I’m sure you’re right, Michael – where things didn’t quite work, adjustments and improvements will be made.
That Porsche collection, though – just amazing!

Another event to add to my bucket list – having visited the Italian Lakes a few times, it’s not as if I need another reason to go there, but the Concours would certainly help…

These are surely three quite different cars, especially the W124/C124, which I would say is a class higher then the Prelude and E30?
The only E30 I’ve driven was a 325iSport, which was a lot of fun; the Prelude is not such an exciting drive, but it is a sharp design, certainly more interesting than the E30 in my eyes.

What a fine collection – will have to visit if/when I next fly to Milan. The Lancia Stratos Zero turned up at the NEC Classic in 2022 on the Lancia Owners’ Club stand – easily the most dramatic car at the show, and about as extreme a wedge as you could imagine.
